Seahawks celebration becomes ironic after Kyler Murray's terrible throw

What happened?

Seattle Seahawks safety Coby Bryant likes to intercept Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray. He did so last year and returned the pick for a touchdown. In Week 4 of this season, Bryant did it again. Only this time things didn't go so well.

Murray threw an awful pass, and the ball was nowhere near an Arizona receiver. Bryant caught it, returned the pick for about 10 yards, and then got hit by his own guy. He fumbled as well...who expects to get accidentally tackled by their teammate?

Instead of a Seahawks turnover, Murray's pass became a turnover and then another turnover. But should it have? Bryant appeared to get hit by a Cardinals player while he touched the ground just before he fumbled. The referees didn't seem to understand this when they reviewed whether Bryant had actually fumbled.

Meanwhile, the Seattle Seahawks defenders had taken off toward the other side of the field to celebrate the interception. Many appeared to miss that Coby Bryant no longer had the ball. Instead, the ball was in the arms of a Cardinals player.

After recovering the non-fumble and getting awarded the ball back, even though they shouldn't have, Arizona slowly worked its way down the field, aided by a 15-yard facemask penalty on Seahawks cornerback Riq Woolen. Arizona ended up kicking a field goal to take a 3-0 lead.

In reality, Seattle should have had the ball. The interception and then run-back was weird, sure, and Bryant did fumble the ball after getting hit by his own player, but after an Arizona player had touched him.

It could have been a game-changing call, but Seattle was able to come back on their next drive and score a touchdown on a beautiful pass and catch from quarterback Sam Darnold to tight end AJ Barner. There was no review of whether Barner fumbled the catch (he didn't).
