The NFL officially announced the training camp start dates and joint practice dates for every team on Monday. This means Seattle Seahawks fans can start circling on the calendar when their favorite team will begin the trek to repeat as Super Bowl winners.
The Seahawks' rookies will begin training camp fairly early on July 17. This is the earliest of any team, with the reason being that Seattle opens the NFL season against the New England Patriots on Wednesday, September 9. Veterans report a week later on July 24.
Seattle will also have one joint practice, which they will participate in on August 21 in Nashville against the Tennessee Titans. Joint practices are mostly more meaningful than preseason games. The presumed starters will get lots of reps in game-type situations, whereas in preseason games, teams use those to whittle down who will make the roster.
Seattle Seahawks now know their training camp arrival dates ahead of the 2026 season
Seattle and Tennessee held back-to-back joint practices in head coach Mike Macdonald's first season with the team in 2024. What will be an interesting watch is how Macdonald handles the 2026 session versus how he did in 2024. He's learned a lot as a head coach, including how to win a Super Bowl.
Overall, the Seattle Seahawks have less than a month as of this writing before the team begins coming together once again. After rookies arrive, the team has less than two months before the season begins. In other words, the new NFL season isn't too far away.
Of course, fans hope that the new season ends just like the last one did. That won't be easy, but a successful year never is easy. Seattle needs key players, such as quarterback Sam Darnold and wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba, to stay healthy again, and for rookies to step up into roles left by players who signed elsewhere in free agency.
This means second-round selection Bud Clark will need to be the new Coby Bryant, and first-rounder Jadarian Price will need to be the new Kenneth Walker III. Seattle didn't choose an edge rusher in the 2026 NFL Draft to replace Boye Mafe, but did sign veteran Dante Fowler Jr. If all the new pieces are as good as the old, 2026 can be special too.
As far as the Seahawks' preseason games, those are as follows:
- Versus the Dallas Cowboys at Lumen Field on August 15 at 5 pm PT
- At the Tennessee Titans on August 23 at 5 pm PT
- At the Kansas City Chiefs on August 28 at 5 pm PT
