The Seattle Seahawks might not be chasing the Trey Hendricksons of free agency (or even the Boye Mafes), but the team is bringing back key players who the national media might not care about. To be sure, though, long snapper Chris Stoll and offensive tackle Josh Jones are valuable pieces.
Stoll is one of the better players at his position in the league. One might be able to tell that from the fact that Stoll's name is hardly ever called during a broadcast. His spot is one that only gets noticed when something goes wrong.
The Penn State product is a metronome of a snapper, quick and true. One reason that punter Michael Dickson and kicker Jason Myers are so good is that they never have to worry about where the snap will go. They can focus on their own jobs.
Seattle Seahawks are brining back long snapper Chris Stoll and offensive tackle Josh Jones
The long snapper is returning on a two-year deal. Exact details of the move were not readily known, but it won't be expensive. Somewhere between $1-2 million a season is likely.
As for Josh Jones, he is coming back on a one-year deal, and terms were not known for him either. He signed with Seattle last offseason for a maximum of $4 million, and he likely earned that. He was expected to be a swing tackle, but spent all his time at left tackle and was quite good.
He started in Weeks 16 through 18 after starter Charles Cross injured his hamstring, and Jones allowed nine pressures in those three games. He was particularly good against the run, however, and the Seahawks were not afraid to use running back Kenneth Walker to run wide left behind Jones.
Jones will fill the same exact role he did in 2025 moving forward. Should right tackle Abraham Lucas or LT Cross get hurt, Jones will step in. He does need to stay healthier, though. He missed the early part of the season with an ankle injury and was injured again in Week 18. An NFL backup has to be available, and Jones will need to be that next season.
