The Seattle Seahawks lost mercurial cornerback Riq Woolen in free agency, as he signed a one-year deal with the Philadelphia Eagles. Seattle brought back Josh Jobe and still has Devon Witherspoon for many more seasons (hopefully), but the team might still look to replace Woolen in the 2026 NFL draft.

One player who has been linked to general manager John Schneider's team in many mock drafts is Clemson's Avieon Terrell. He is projected to go in the second half of the first round by many prognosticators, and that could put him firmly in Seattle territory.

But in his Clemson pro day on Monday, Terrell wasn't able to finish his workout as he hurt his hamstring. If this were a one-off injury, the concern would be lessened. The problem is that the cornerback had the same injury pop up at the NFL combine earlier in March.

Seattle Seahawks potential draft target Avieon Terrell aggravates injury

After the first injury, he rescheduled his initial pro day. In the rescheduled event, it took Terrell only one run to aggravate the issue. Maybe he never suffers another hamstring concern, but any potential injury issue can scare off teams in the draft. Terrell might be moving down many draft boards as you read this sentence.

If the Seahawks stay interested, instead of hoping another cornerback, such as San Diego State's Chris Johnson, falls to the team at pick 32 in the first round, Terrell does offer a good upside.

He is 5'11" and 180 pounds (he will need to gain some muscle), and while he is good in coverage, he is elite against the run. In other words, he might be the perfect Mike Macdonald corner. Terrell won't just do well keeping passes from being completed, but he won't mind setting a better edge against the run than Riq Woolen ever did.

The Clemson product also offers some diversity in terms of being used on blitzes. He had three sacks in 2025, getting home a lot of the time when he was asked to pressure the quarterback. Again, assuming he stays healthy, Terrell's ability to do all aspects of the game well would give Macdonald even more freedom in pre-snap alignments with the rookie, Witherspoon, and Nick Emmanwori.

The other positive aspect is that any prospect a team is interested in is going to be looked over quite a bit in terms of physicals.

Avieon Terrell has already met with the Seahawks, according to various sources, so Seattle would already have an idea what to expect as far as the cornerback's health. If John Schneider chooses the corner, fans can be sure the team has done its due diligence on the player.
