When former Seattle Seahawks offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak took the head coach position with the Las Vegas Raiders, a key question was which coaches he might take with him. The answer might only be Andrew Janocko. He will be the new OC in Vegas.

One coach that doesn't appear to be leaving, however, is offensive line coach John Benton. Besides Kubiak, Benton was probably the most important to Seattle's success in 2025. In his first year with the team, the longtime O-line coach helped transform the Seahawks' line from one of the worst in the NFL to one that was fairly effective by the end of the year.

That isn't likely to change under Benton, and might only get better. None of Seattle's starting five offensive linemen is expected to go anywhere this offseason, and maybe not anytime soon. Maybe the team would be better off if it finds a player to replace Anthony Bradford; otherwise, the line could be set for the next three or four seasons.

Seattle Seahawks offensive line coach John Benton won't be following Klint Kubiak to the Raiders

Left tackle Charles Cross and right tackle Abraham Lucas both signed multi-year extensions during this season, left guard Grey Zabel was only drafted last year, and center Jalen Sundell is only in his second year in the NFL (and first as a full-time starter). Bradford is entering the final season of his rookie deal in 2026.

Kubiak might have left, and he deserves all kinds of praise for creating an offense that scored the most points in franchise history, but his prior working relationship with Benton wasn't enough to get the O-line coach to the Raiders. The positive part is that Benton has a previous working relationship with the Seahawks' new offensive coordinator.

Seattle reportedly hired former San Francisco 49ers run game coordinator Brian Fleury on Sunday. Fleury worked in San Francisco from 2019 through 2025, overlapping with Benton in 2019 and 2020. The current Seattle offensive line coach was the 49ers' offensive line coach during that time.

In other words, John Benton felt comfortable working with Klint Kubiak, as they had worked together with the New Orleans Saints in 2024, but Benton should also feel comfortable working with Fleury, as they had worked together previously.

Plus, the scheme under Brian Fleury shouldn't change much from Klint Kubiak. Both understand that having a successful run game is important for the passing game. The Seattle Seahawks aren't going to suddenly stop running the ball. John Benton is going to help make sure that part of the offense keeps working exceedingly well.
