It was pretty clear last season that the Seattle Seahawks and the Los Angeles Rams were the two best teams in the NFL. The division rivals split their regular season series, with the two games being decided by a total of three points, but the Seahawks got the last laugh, defeating the Rams in the NFC Championship 31-27.

Seattle, of course, went on to win the Super Bowl, and Los Angeles has been furiously at work this offseason to make sure they don’t fall short again. The Rams’ busy offseason has been highlighted by trades for Trent McDuffie and Myles Garrett. Those moves, alone, have everyone calling L.A. Super Bowl favorites, but the Rams may not even be done.

Since Los Angeles acquired Garrett, everyone in the NFL world has been talking about the possibility of Aaron Donald coming out of retirement. On Tuesday, that conversation hit another level when NFL insider Adam Schefter said he thinks it’s more likely than not that Donald does un-retire and rejoin the Rams.

Adam Schefter predicts that Aaron Donald rejoining the Rams is likely

While the Seahawks should feel confident as the defending champs, who still have a really good team, they absolutely have to be monitoring what’s going on in L.A., especially if Donald is going to be back on the field.

To be clear, Schefter was very adamant that this wasn’t a report, but just his personal belief. The veteran insider explained that the current feeling around the league is that Donald’s return is a possibility. From that, Schefter said the fact that it’s even a possibility in early June lets him know that it will become more real in July.

Based on the insider’s experience, Schefter thinks once a concrete plan is shared with Donald, it’s more likely than not that the star defensive tackle will be back in the Rams building.

Ultimately, the decision will be Donald’s, and while he has already admitted that he’s considering it, he has also said it’s about finding the fire again, because when he retired, he no longer had the desire to play football.

The Seahawks, and the rest of the NFL, are certainly hoping that desire continues to elude Donald. If not, Seattle, as the defending champions, will be fighting to keep pace with the super team L.A. is building.
