Who is singing the National Anthem at 49ers versus Seahawks in Week 6?
The Seahawks need to stop a two-game skid when the arch-rival 49ers visit for Thursday Night Football. Hopefully a Seattle native can lift the Hawks to a win with an uplifting rendition of the National Anthem. Sure, it was clumsy, but you get what you pay for.
We have one spot of good news, 12s. The injury picture for the Hawks isn't quite as grim as it was before the Lions game. It isn't exactly the best, either. Uchenna Nwosu is now on injured reserve, and both Byron Murphy II and Riq Woolen are out for the game. Both Boye Mafe and Derick Hall are listed as questionable. That could make for a pretty easy night for Niners QB Brock Purdy.
Perhaps the worst news there is the absence of Woolen. I don't know if you missed this, but Tre Brown wasn't very good against the Giants. I mean, maybe you were in a coma or something. Hope you feel better. As most of you are all too aware, Brown was basically defenseless against New York receiver Darius Slayton. As Brown himself stated on social media, he's played better than that. He could have phrased it better, but he's right. He needs to bring his top performance back versus San Francisco.
National Anthem performer for 49ers versus Seahawks in Week 6
I'll tell you someone who always turns in their top performance, 12s. That would be the nine-time Grammy nominee gospel singer, Natalie Grant. Ms. Grant is also a five-time Dove Award winner. The Dove Awards are presented by the Gospel Music Association. Gospel may not be your go-to musical genre, but those folks can sing. Artists as varied as Sam Cooke, Whitney Houston, Johnny Cash, and Dolly Parton all have deep roots in gospel music. So yeah, Ms. Grant can sing.
Some of you may be wondering if Natalie Grant is related to the more famous Amy Grant. Only through the music, fam, only through the music. Born in Seattle, Grant moved to Nashville to pursue her music career. To date, Grant has released 12 albums, Seasons being her latest:
Here's hoping Ms. Grant's return to her hometown brings some downhome luck to the Seahawks!
