Even before the NFL released each team's opponents for the 2026-27 season, the Seattle Seahawks' best and most anticipated matchups were going to be against their two division rivals: the Los Angeles Rams and the San Francisco 49ers.Â
The NFC West might be the most competitive and exciting division in football, though the AFC West, featuring the Kansas City Chiefs, Denver Broncos, Las Vegas Raiders, and Los Angeles Chargers, is pretty high up there as well.Â
As it happens, the AFC West will face the Seahawks next season. That said, the most exciting matchups ahead for the Seahawks come from four teams in other divisions, because teams in their own division are a given. In that light, here are two of the Seahawks best opponents next season from each conference.
The Seattle Seahawks' most exciting 2026 opponents include elite offenses and a rising star quarterback
NFC: Dallas Cowboys, Chicago Bears
With George Pickens officially back in the fold, the Dallas Cowboys will enter next season with one of the most potent offenses and elite wide receiver duos in the league, making them a perfect matchup for the Seahawks. This game could be a back-and-forth scoring fest, given the weapons on both teams and the high-quality quarterback play of Dak Prescott and Sam Darnold.Â
The last time the Cowboys and Seahawks met in 2023, Dallas came out on top 41-35. The next installment of a clash between these two teams might not reach that scoreboard height, but there should be some fireworks from both teams. It may come down to which defense can initiate more stops.
As for the Chicago Bears, this will be the second time the Seahawks will face Caleb Williams, who managed to lead the Bears to just three points in his rookie season against the Seahawks in a 6-3 loss. Williams is far from the player he was the last time Seattle faced him, and he's expected to be even better in year three.Â
The Seahawks will have the advantage in this one, playing at home, but still can't take Williams' Bears lightly. Given Williams' rise and significant improvement from last season, it ups the stakes for the Seahawks this time around.Â
AFC: Denver Broncos, New England Patriots
Right up there with the Seahawks' defense is the Denver Broncos' defense. Both squads, alongside the Houston Texans and Minnesota Vikings, led the league in defensive rankings last season, so the prospect of watching the Seahawks and Broncos butt heads next season should be a joy.Â
The one downside for those who enjoy offense is the possibility that offense may not be a huge factor in this matchup. The one advantage the Seahawks do have is on offense; they're better at quarterback and skill positions. Either way, for the sake of two elite defenses, a Seahawks-Broncos bout is one matchup to get excited for.
The same can be said when the Seahawks welcome the New England Patriots to Lumen Field. The Super Bowl rematch is a given for this list, as it will hopefully either maintain the Seahawks' place as the better team or showcase the Patriots' growth and improvement.Â
The championship rematches the following year are always among the most anticipated games, and this one will be no different. The Patriots will enter year three with Drake Maye under center, and he, along with head coach Mike Vrabel, will seek a taste of revenge. It will be up to the Seahawks to take them back to February.Â
