Just because we are in the offseason doesn’t mean that we can’t go back and look at some of the best moments of the 2014 Seattle Seahawks season. There were a ton of amazing plays, unbelievable losses, and miracle comebacks to keep us 12’s busy until we do it all again.

Marshawn Lynch’s two-year extension with the Seahawks means that we’ll have plenty more to cheer in 2015. That’s not the case for every team.

The NFL offseason has already produced some of the craziest storylines that I can remember. Seattle’s hated rival, the San Francisco 49ers, have undergone such an unpredictable dismantling that it’s almost possible to feel sorry for their fans – emphasis on almost.

One of the greatest linebackers to play the game, Patrick Willis, unexpectedly retired at the age of 30. Luckily for them, Chris Borland emerged as a future star, garnering votes for rookie of the year and ensured himself of the job vacated by Willis.

In a sudden twist, Borland decided to call his one-year stint in the NFL a career, citing the risk of injury and possible long-term medical conditions to be his primary reason to pursue other interests.

I for one thought Borland was crazy. You’re passing on the opportunity to make millions of dollars and work a “job” that nearly every other human being covets.

Even Seahawks All-Pro linebacker Bobby Wagner chimed in on the Borland’s decision to leave the game.

In some ways it’s understandable to do what Borland did. You have to respect his decision and remember that he’s living his own life. Maybe some time from now he’ll look back on his decision and have regrets.

One thing he won’t regret is having to square up against one of the most punishing running backs the NFL has ever seen. For the rest of his time with the 49ers, Borland would have been tasked with stopping the man they call Beast Mode at least twice a season.

After this hit that Marshawn Lynch laid on the rookie last season, it’s a little more clear as to why Borland is no longer and NFL linebacker.

Maybe the league will begin fining Lynch for causing its young stars to reevaluate their choice to play in the NFL.
