Sherman inspires youth with his hard work and determination

Richard Sherman is one powerful player for Seattle. There’s no arguing that his role in the Legion of Boom is one that cannot be replaced. Despite having a few blow-ups on the sidelines last season, Sherman continues to inspire young people with his hard work and determination on the field. And it sounds like his hometown of Compton, California wants to recognize him for his hard work. On Twitter, it was revealed that Sherman was being honored with a mural in his hometown along with Tayshaun Prince and Tyson Chandler.

Sherman shared his feelings about the mural on Twitter, which showcased himself and the two other athletes, who are both basketball players. Richard expressed on Twitter that he was very thankful for the recognition.

Sherman makes headlines of all kinds

Of course, Richard Sherman is one of the reasons why the Seattle Seahawks defense is doing so well. Over the past couple of years, Sherman has perfected the defensive backfield with the help of Earl Thomas III and Kam Chancellor. However, Richard has also made headlines because of his angry outbursts and this past season, Richard lost his cool when the Seahawks played the Rams. He yelled at coach Pete Carroll and he flipped out on his teammates for all to see.

Sherman also verbally slammed a reporter earlier this year in a news conference. According to the Seattle Times, Sherman did tweet his feelings about the media after he felt he was quoted out of context in his interview feud with Jim Moore.

"“I appreciate the role the media plays and they have a tough job. I let it get personal today and I regret that. Next one should be fun.”"

And maybe this is why Richard Sherman is being honored in his hometown of Compton. He has clearly excelled in the NFL and despite only being 25, he has achieved more than many players who have been in the league longer than him.

It’s all about the passion

Plus, him showing his emotions on the sideline in the heat of the moment could also be a reason why he’s being honored. Him yelling at his teammates to do better just showcases his passion for the game and his standards. And since they have been in the Super Bowl twice with one win in the past five years, it only makes sense that Sherman would want to keep the standards high.
