Round 2, Pick 63: Frank Clark, DE, Michigan
I cannot state strongly enough how unhappy this pick makes me. Not because he isn’t a good player (he very much is), but because he isn’t a good person. More on that in the minute.
On the field, Clark is a top 10 talent. He’s a completely dominant player who is almost unblockable. He instantly upgrades Seattle’s already dominant pass rush, and he’s a great against the run as well. The problem with Clark is that he was kicked off his college team after multiple arrests.
The worst of which was a domestic violence incident where he reportedly beat up his girlfriend. Making matters worse, he showed up at the combined and promptly went on a victim-blaming rant at the podium during his meeting with the press.
There is clearly no remorse, and no belief that he did anything wrong. This is a point with a lot of upside on the field. For some people that is enough. It is also a pick that has the potential to bite the Seahawks if he is ultimately suspended.
Next: Pick 69!
