NFL Power Rankings Roundup: Seahawks tumble from top
By Dan Viens
Last week, most of the Power Rankings kept the Seahawks in the Top 5, brushing off the opening week loss to the Rams as an anomaly that didn’t seem to significantly alter any opinions. This week, while a few are still holding off on counting out the Hawks until they get a stretch of games against lesser opponents, and with more home cooking, overall they took an understandable tumble down most lists.

Keith Myers – 12thmanrising.com: Seahawks at #9
Keith dropped the Hawks 6 spots from last week.
Seattle needs to send out a search party to search for their missing TE. He’s tall, red haired, answers to Jimmy.
Rob Demovsky – espn.com: Seahawks at #3 (tied with Pittsburgh)
Most Power Rankings are completely subjective and opinion-based, but ESPN uses an analytical metric they call FPI (Football Power Index) which takes a number of objective factors into consideration including travel, altitude, strength of opponent and predicted outcome based on vegas lines and input from NFL personnel. The Seahawks ranking didn’t change despite the loss Sunday, due in part to the fact that the Packers hold the top spot.
Elliot Harrison – nfl.com: Seahawks at #11
Falling 8 spots from last week, Harrison also points his finger directly at the Hawks failure to utilize Jimmy Graham to this point.
If you can’t figure out how to use Graham in your offense, don’t invest the resources in trading for him.
Frank Schwab – yahoo.com: Seahawks at #5
Again, Schwab rips the Hawks for not finding a way to involve Graham, but keeps them in his Top 5.
Pete Prisco – cbssports.com: Seahawks at #11
Prisco wasn’t high on the Hawks from the outset, so they only fall one spot here, but he holds out hope that they’ll go on a run starting this week:
"They have a good chance to begin the turnaround against the Bears this Sunday. They will come out with fire in their eyes"
Dan Schneier – foxsports.com: Seahawks at #13
Down 7 spots, Schneier is the first one to focus on the absence of a certain holdout strong safety:
"Counting the Seahawks out this early would be foolish, but they certainly could use the return of Kam Chancellor — his absence has made a major impact on Seattle’s run and pass defense."
USA TODAY: Seahawks at #8
"Not time to push panic button. But if they lose home opener to Chicago, it’s time to pay Kam whatever he wants."
Brad Biggs – Chicago Tribune: Seahawks at #9
I thought it would be appropriate to check the Bears beat writer’s perspective. He seems on point with just about everyone else.
"Bears ought to fix what is wrong with Pete Carroll’s team for one week anyway."
And that seems to be continuing a trend I saw in all this week’s Power Rankings, The Bears were ranked dead last in all but two of these polls.
If the Seahawks can’t get the ship righted this week……..
