Richard Sherman celebrity softball game: roster and more

The Richard Sherman Celebrity softball game is approaching, so we’ve got event details and an updated list of athlete’s that are scheduled to be there.

We’re getting to that time of year again. No, not the start of training camp. That is still a painful six weeks away. Nope, it is softball season!

Wait, that’s not right either. It isn’t actually a season, but we are getting close to the annual Richard Sherman celebrity softball game. It is a super-fun diversion that raises a lot of money for some good causes.

Most of the money goes to the Richard Sherman Family Foundation and Blanket Coverage. That’s Sherman’s project that helps make sure underprivileged kids have the school supplies they need. Various other local charities also receive funding from the game.

Last year the game featured former Sonic and current NBA superstar Kevin Durant, who proved that being extremely athletic doesn’t mean you’re instantly good at softball. It was a great gesture for Durant to lend his name to the fundraiser even though he had to know he’d look bad on the field.

Who knows what surprises we’ll see this year?

Obviously, the roster will be added to over the next few weeks. Sherman like to release the names one at a time to help get people excited about the game. It is pretty clear that this strategy works, at least on me.
