Weakside Linebacker

Starter: K.J. Wright

Backup: Kevin Pierre-Louis

K.J. Wright is one of the most underrated players in the NFL. He’s tremendous in coverage on running backs, and sniffs out the screen as good as anyone in the NFL. Wright is a three-down player that almost never comes off the field.

Projecting a backup for Wright is fairly difficult since the names in play here are also in play for the starting job on the other side of the formation. Since the weakside linebacker doesn’t come off the field in the nickel, it is definitely the more important position.

That is why Pierre-Louis is listed as the backup here. Even if he wins the starting job on the strong side, the Seahawks won’t hesitate to move him over if Wright is injured.
