The rookie runners were (mostly) unimpressive

Both Alex Collins and Zac Brooks failed to make a positive impact. There was too much hesitation, and far too many missed blocks in pass protection.

Collins ended up with 6 carries for only 13 yards. He also was the third down back in the first quarter, but didn’t do much with those snaps either.

Brooks got a lot of snaps as the third down back. He had 1 catch for 4 yards to go along with two rushes for 10 yards, and 7 of those yards came on a draw on 3rd and 21.

On the other hand, the completely unknown and unheralded Troymaine Pope had a great night. He made the most of his 10 carries, gashing the Vikings for 86 yards and a touchdown. Sure, all those yards came against scrubs, but he looked decisive, quick, and powerful.
