36. . QB. (1980-91). Dave Krieg. 14. player

Next in the line of outstanding Seahawks quarterbacks, Dave Krieg ushered in a new era under center after taking over for Jim Zorn as the starter. Although he can’t claim any Super Bowl appearances or All-Pro honors, his performance at the helm of the Seattle offense was outstanding.

With Krieg conducting the offense, the Seahawks took their first four trips to the postseason (including an AFC Championship appearance) and won their first division title. During his nine years as the starter (12 total in Seattle), Krieg earned three Pro Bowl nods and blew all of Zorn’s stats out of the water.

There’s one more piece that proves how instrumental Krieg was to the Seahawks’ success. When he finally departed in 1992, the franchise suffered its worst season to date, finishing 2-14. The drop-off suffered after Kelly Stouffer took over as the starter was monstrous, toppling Seattle to the NFL basement.

Was Krieg a superstar for the Seahawks? Not really, and that’s fine. What he did was get the franchise moving in the right direction while providing them with a quality, stable quarterback to rely on for nearly a decade. Sounds like quite the bargain for an undrafted free agent.
