Seahawks final injury report for Chicago Bears game
By Lee Vowell
It is only week two but the Seahawks have big concerns with some key players missing games. Here is who is out and in for Seattle this week.
The Seahawks came into 2018 with less talent than in previous years after losing players this past offseason. Seattle knew the depth of the roster was thin. But I do not think anyone though they would lose quality players so early.
On Monday, Seattle will play without Bobby Wagner, K.J. Wright and Doug Baldwin, among others. The Seahawks might also be without D.J. Fluker, Tre Flowers and Delano Hill. Winning on the road in the NFL isn’t easy. But winning on the road without lots of good players is nearly impossible.
Wagner’s injury may be the most harmful. Seattle can survive without Baldwin, though not nearly as well. Wagner is dealing with a groin injury from week one against the Broncos. What Seattle thought at first was a cramp turned out to be worse. Wagner hopes to return against the Cowboys next week in what is the Seahawks first home game of 2018.
Baldwin sprained his MCL against the Broncos and will be out for several weeks. The timetable for his return in still unknown.
K.J. Wright had his knee scoped before week one. Like Wagner, he hopes to return against the Cowboys. Losing one of the linebackers is bad for the Seahawks. But losing both means almost certain defeat.
Rookie Tre Flowers had a fairly rough game in week one as Emmanuel Sanders caught 10 passes against him. But Flowers wasn’t expected to start to open the year. He was the third-string corner. And now even he is injured and may not play against the Bears. Flowers has a hamstring injury and is doubtful to play.
Fluker and Hill are also doubtful to be able to play. But at least there is some depth at each of their positions. Seattle lacks that at many other positions. And if more players get hurt, Seattle could easily be looking at a losing record.
