Three players Seahawks can least afford to lose other than Russell Wilson and Bobby Wagner

Duane Brown, left tackle

NFL left tackles get paid a lot of money to protect their quarterbacks and Duane Brown makes a lot of money. But he is also really good. In 2018, Brown was graded as the fifth best tackle in the NFL, according to Pro Football Focus. After searching in vain for someone to nail down left tackle in Seattle, the Seahawks traded for Brown in 2017 and he has been very good ever since.

Brown is still young enough to make sure Russell Wilson isn’t getting killed for the next few seasons. This is a good thing, too, because Seattle is woefully thin at tackle after Brown. Right tackle Germain Ifedi isn’t good enough to switch sides and replace Brown should Brown go down with injury.

After Ifedi, it is even worse. George Fant is Ifedi’s backup and has played some left tackle, but he hasn’t proven he is good when getting starters reps. Jamarco Jones will be for all-intents-and-purposes a rookie in 2019. Though Jones was drafted in 2018, he missed all of the regular season with an injury.

And Ethan Pocic hasn’t shown that he can be good at any of the offensive line positions he has played. In other words, if the Seahawks lose Brown, the season might be lost too.
