Quarterbacks

Starter: Russell Wilson

Backup: Geno Smith

Cuts: Paxton Lynch and J.T. Barrett

Clearly, Wilson is the starter. The question here is who his backup is. Going into preseason game one, Smith was the leader. He still was after that game but Lynch was closing the gap after his performance. Lynch was not good in his second preseason game, though, and got injured. Smith was good in preseason game 3. Smith is going to be Wilson’s backup.

Running backs

Starter: Chris Carson

Depth: Rashaad Penny, Travis Homer, C.J. Prosise and Nick Bellore (fullback)

Cuts: J.D. McKissic, Xavier Turner and Bo Scarbrough

Carson is by far the best running back on this team right now and if anyone debates that then they aren’t watching the game on the field. Penny is a former first-round pick and will be his backup. He needs to play better and keep playing better, though. Homer is a rookie and it is too early to give up on him. Bellore is the only fullback on the roster. Prosise, for better or worse, played great in preseason game three and his potential – should he stay healthy – outweighs McKissic’s. Prosise makes the team. Turner and Scarbrough were always roster fillers instead of true players who could make the team.
