The NFC West is getting better

The NFC West used to be a two team division: The Seahawks and whichever team they were battling for the division lead in any given year. But now all four teams in the division could conceivably be quite good. San Francisco made it to the Super Bowl this year. The Rams made it the year before. Arizona has a good young quarterback and seems to beat the Seahawks in Seattle every season as it is.

Seattle went 3-3 against their division in 2019. But this was in a year when the Cardinals were rebuilding and the Rams were just off. The 49ers should be really good again in 2020. Basically, Seattle has no games in its division where they can assume a victory. And actually, Seattle beat the Rams when Russell Wilson simply played out of his mind and then found a way to beat the 49ers in a game when they turned the ball over four times.

Long story shorter, the Seahawks were kind of lucky not to go 1-5 versus the own division this past year.

And let’s not even get into the Cardinals game in week 16 that Seattle lost 27-13 in one of the more embarrassing defeats in the Pete Carroll era. My point is, Seattle needs to be even better in 2020 to try to go 3-3 in the NFC West again.
