Russell Wilson was cooking

In an offseason where Russell Wilson made it clear to management that he wanted help, the front office did their best to suit their franchise quarterback. They signed WR Philip Dorset (who was inactive today), TE Greg Olsen, HB Carlos Hyde and brought back WR Josh Gordon (who is still waiting to be reinstated). While the offensive line remains weak, it is had been made clear throughout Wilson’s career that he does not need a top pass-blocking offensive line in order to succeed. Today, in Atlanta, Russell Wilson was magical. Throughout the offseason, Seahawks twitter wanted Russ to Cook and he did exactly that in our season opener.

Wilson came out with a vengeance as he is seeking his first MVP trophy of his career and he is off to a great start. Wilson completed 31 out of 35 passes for 322 yards and 4 touchdowns with no interceptions. Wilson was precise in his throws, sharp in his reads, and was smart using his mobility when he had too.

While he was sacked a couple of times, overall, the Seattle offensive line was impressive. They gave Wilson enough time to go through his reads and make his throws when need be. One of Wilson’s most impressive plays of the game was on 4th and 2, when he hit DK Metcalf up the sideline for a touchdown to put them up 21-12. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, Russell Wilson throws the best deep ball in the entire world. Wilson earned a stamp of approval from the NFL on Twitter:

It has been discussed a lot that Russell Wilson has not received a single MVP vote. He has heard the noise and has responded. Wilson does not talk a lot of trash or have snarky remarks to the media, he just shows up every Sunday and balls out.
