Fun stat No. 1: Russell Wilson had the longest run of all QBs in week 1

Russell Wilson was nearly perfect in week one. His pocket awareness was superb. His passes were perfectly placed. Throwing dimes if you will. However, what got the fun stat was his week 1 run on a quarterback option. This play resulted in a gain of 28 yards on the scramble.

This is something I have been screaming for the last couple of seasons. Yes, I want to make sure Wilson stays healthy. Running the ball opens up risk. However, it also keeps the defense on their toes. I mean look at what Cam Newton did last week. It’s hard to plan for a top 2 passer and an elite runner.

When Wilson elected to run the ball, it helped show a new mentality. He wants to do anything he can to win. Most importantly, the coaching staff is 100% behind him in this.

This was especially true when the Seahawks went for it on 4th and 5. Wilson told the media that he noticed how pumped the defense was after their 3rd down stop. He told the OC Brian Schottenheimer about it, they decided to roll the dice and make a statement.

The Seahawks are aggressive and they won’t back down from anyone. Look for more fun play calling going forward.
