Seahawks versus Cardinals: 3 bold predictions week 7
By Lee Vowell
Chris Carson has his best game of the season
Chris Carson has been really good against the Cardinals in his career for the most part. But the biggest reason Carson is needed to be great in week 7 came out of week 16 of 2019, a game that the Seahawks simply to seem to lay down in. Carson had run for 40 yards on 8 carries and caught a 20-yard pass and then got hurt and was lost for the season.
What happens if Carson stays in the game? Does his toughness inspire Seattle and they manage to stay in the game and win? If so, week 17’s loss to the 49ers almost becomes a moot point. Seattle could have had home-field advantage in the playoffs last year. But Carson was hurt and Seattle lost.
Carson has still been good this year but in a lesser way. With Seattle letting Russ cook, Seattle has been throwing more which obviously means fewer carries for Carson. But here’s the rub with the Cardinals defense, they rank 28th in missed tackles in the NFL with 49 (Seattle, for the record, is 12th with 37) and Arizona is 17th in yards allowed per carry at 4.4 (Seattle is 7th at 3.9 per rush).
This means 12s should a heck of a lot more Carson on Sunday to held eat clock and grind out yards. Carson has had two games with 104 yards rushing or more against the Cardinals. That is in two of his three games against Arizona. Game three was in week 16 of last year where Carson probably would have gotten 100-plus more.
Chris Carson will be a beast on Sunday.
