Linebacker, K.J. Wright

Typically, I give out the player of the month to just one individual. But, I truthfully couldn’t choose between DK Metcalf and KJ Wright, as I thought they both had great months of play. KJ Wright doesn’t get talked about a lot and I get it, as his running mate is the best LB in the NFL, Bobby Wagner.

But, it is important to note that Wagner played an instrumental piece in keeping Wright on this roster when his contract was up last offseason. Wagner knows he and Wright are one of the best duos in the entire NFL, and that was on display in the month of November.

This defense has been receiving a lot of heat for the amount of passing yards they have been giving up. I get it, it’s a problem and it needs to get fixed along with the pass rush. But, can we just take a moment and bask in the glory of KJ Wright? This rush defense is one of the better ones in the league and KJ Wright is a large part of that. I thought he had his best game of the month against Miami.

But, he had an even better one against the Vikings. Against Miami, Wright had 2 or 3 chances at an interception, but fell short as he dropped it. Against Minnesota, he made up for it by intercepting a pass with one hand. Against Arizona, Wright once again played a solid game. He was a key piece in stopping the run and Seattle was pretty successful in doing so. Jordyn Brooks and Shaquem Griffin were assigned the responsibilities of spying the speedy Kyler Murray. Regardless, I thought Wright had a great month and I am excited about the future of this defense.

KJ Wright’s stat line for the month of November: 15 SOLO, 18 COMB, 1 INT, 2 PD, 2 FR
