Sam Darnold

If you’re watching the game, don’t just see what Wilson does with the ball in his hands. Be sure to watch what the Jets quarterback does in Sam Darnold when he’s out on the field.

The Jets used their third overall pick on Darnold back in 2018 and his time seems to be nearing an end with the team as they are most likely to land Trevor Lawrence with the first overall pick in the upcoming draft.

Darnold has not done well this season with stats of five touchdown passes, nine interceptions, 1,428 passing yards and completing just 58.9% of his passes. Darnold sometimes tends to miss his targets by a wide margin which has led to memes of him “seeing ghosts”.

The Seahawks though don’t have the greatest pass defense which kind of works in Darnold’s favor. With weaker coverage, his wide receivers may be able to get open more often and can beat out the player that’s covering them to the ball.

Darnold isn’t the greatest quarterback but when he doesn’t have threats in the opposing secondary, he can perform at least at a serviceable level which was seen against the Denver Broncos in Week 4 (23/42, 230 yards) and last week against the Las Vegas Raiders (14/23, 186 yards, two touchdown passes and one interception).

He can also be perceived as a bit of a threat on the ground as he averages 7.5 yards when he runs. It will be interesting to see how Darnold does this week against the Seahawks.
