Seahawks weeks one through four and the return of the best QB in franchise history

Week 1 – home versus the Denver Broncos, September 12th on Monday Night Football

Season opener. Home opener. Monday Night Football. Former AFC West rivals. Russ’s return to face the ‘Hawks. It may be only the first game, but it doesn’t get much better than this for the Seahawks.

In what may be the loudest and most emotional game in years, I expect this game to be a low-scoring slugfest. Russell Wilson is going to be facing a wild crowd, a Pete Carroll-led motivated defense and the growing pains of a new offense and a new coach. Seattle will likely be running out two brand new offensive tackles, so I expect starting quarterback Geno Smith will be running for his life for most of the first half.

Look for D.K. Metcalf to make enough big plays, and I believe Seattle may play their best defensive game of the year, week one. Russ and the Broncos may win the war in 2022, but Seattle wins the battle in week 1, 17-16.

Record 1-0

Week 2 – at the San Francisco 49ers, September 18th at 1:05 pm PT

Seattle’s first road game will be the 49ers’ home opener in Santa Clara. I don’t know who will be the quarterback for the 49ers, but as long as Little, Deebo and that pass rush are still wearing red and gold, it’s gonna be tough sledding for the ‘Hawks in their first road game, 13-31.

Record 1-1

Week 3 – home versus the Atlanta Falcons, September 25th at 1:25 pm PT

I spoke earlier about the NFC South being one of the worst divisions in football, and Atlanta is a big reason why. This Falcons squad is in full rebuild mode, and they may have the worst roster in the whole league. Look for the running game to get their spark this week, with both Rashaad Penny and Ken Walker having huge games on the ground and Seattle rolls, 27-7.

Record 2-1

Week 4 – at the Detroit Lions, October 2nd at 10 am PT

The Lions may have been one of the more competitive three-win teams the league has seen in a few years. Yes, they’re the Lions, but Dan Campbell has this team on the rise. An underrated team upends Seattle as Jared Goff gets the Hawks again, 30-24.

Record 2-2
