Predicting the Seattle Seahawks 2022 53-man roster: June version
By Lee Vowell
Rest of Seahawks offense
Running backs
On the roster: Kenneth Walker III, Rashaad Penny, DeeJay Dallas and Travis Homer
The player I don’t have here is Chris Carson who I think will be released and possibly before training camp starts. Seattle saves about $3 million by doing so and that leaves $3 million of dead cap which is fine. Walker and Penny will carry the load, if healthy, and that should be one of the better RB duos in the league.
Dallas is a capable backup though not a long-term starter. Homer is a beast on special teams.
Wide receivers
On the roster: DK Metcalf, Tyler Lockett, Freddie Swain, Dee Eskridge and Bo Melton
The first four listed are pretty much locks. Swain isn’t great but does seem to break off three or four long plays a year. Metcalf and Lockett are two of the better receivers in football, of course. This could be the season Eskridge breaks out. And Melton hangs around because he can return punts and kicks.
Tight ends
On the roster: Will Dissly, Noah Fant and Colby Parkinson
This is one of the easier position groups to guess. Dissly re-signed this offseason for three more years. The Seahawks picked up Fant’s fifth-year option so he will be in Seattle through 2023. Parkinson should have the best year of his three-year career in 2022.
Offensive line
On the roster: Charles Cross, Damien Lewis, Austin Blythe, Gabe Jackson, Abe Lucas, Jake Curhan, Stone Forsythe, Phil Haynes, Kyle Fuller and Dakoda Shepley
The only real question among all these players is who starts at right tackle. My guess is Lucas because he needs to be allowed to make mistakes early in his career and learn from them. Shepley could be the starting center in 2023. How Fuller still has a job is anyone’s guess. And Cross should be a ten-year starter beginning in 2022.
