Cardinals didn’t come close to matching Seahawks moves

Arizona Cardinals face a problem with which all 12s are quite familiar. They have a top player demanding a contract extension and haven’t managed to get it done yet. There are a couple of key differences though. Unlike the Seahawks unhappy camper, DK Metcalf, the Cardinals player came in for mandatory workouts. I guess that would make DK an uncamper, huh?

The other key difference is that as important as Metcalf is to the Hawks, they’d survive if they were forced to trade him. I’m not sure what our pals in the desert would do without Kyler Murray. You’re in a different world when the quarterback wants out. Then again, we know all about that, don’t we, 12s?

Don’t take my word for it; read what our friends -yes, they’re our friends, again – at RaisingZona had to say about their offseason. By the way, I have a feeling Adam Patrick is not actually five years old, as he appears in his photo. If so, that’s some solid analysis indeed! As he points out, the Cards have improved their win total for three consecutive seasons. Keeping James Conner and Zach Ertz was important, to be sure.

But they lost Christian Kirk (77 catches, 982 yards, 5 TD) to the Jaguars, and perennial superstar DeAndre Hopkins has been suspended for six games this season. The Cardinals did add former Ravens WR Marquise Brown, a very nice addition to be sure. But he can’t replace Kirk and Hopkins. The Cardinals didn’t have a great offseason by any means, but getting Murray’s contract settled will be a major improvement.
