DK Metcalf is still telling the NFL they were wrong

Do most people remember where Metcalf was drafted? The crazy part was that Metcalf had a ridiculous combine and ran such a fast 40 and jumped so high that some people had him projected to move up into the top 10 of the draft. There was some question about his long-term health or whether he knew how to run multiple route trees, but there was no question Metcalf was a complete physical freak.

Instead, Metcalf fell, and fell, and fell some more and wound up in the second round. Like, deep in the second round. Metcalf was the last pick of the second round. That is insane to think about now. And while every team in the NFL passed up Metcalf at least once, the Seahawks shouldn’t pat themselves on the back too much. They passed him up twice before choosing him.

Instead, Seattle chose L.J. Collier in the first round and Marquise Blair in the second round ahead of Metcalf. Blair is already gone from the team. Collier will be before the 2023 season begins. Metcalf has the mindset to take any slight as a personal affront and that’s good for Seattle.

Metcalf continues to want to prove he is among the best players, not just receivers, in the league. This is probably one reason he plays with so much passion on the field. He wants to beat his man and might see that one man as the NFL as a whole. Embarrassing the man means embarrassing the NFL teams who chose to pass on him in the draft.
