Final weather report for Seahawks vs. Chargers Preseason Week 1 matchup
By Lee Vowell
The Seattle Seahawks training camp is about to come to a close. While the team will not begin playing real games until September 8 when Seattle takes on the Denver Broncos in Week 1, Seattle won't hold practices that the public can see once the preseason schedule starts. Seattle will play the Los Angeles Chargers in Preseason Week 1 on Saturday in LA.
If you are going to the game, good for you. LA is nice this time of year. Or, well...nearly any time of the year. What it lacks, if you have not been there, is the beautiful greenery, peaked mountains, and amazing water of the Seattle area. Los Angeles is fine. Seattle is better.
That said, one thing you will almost never have to worry about when going to see a game in LA that you would have to fret about when going to a game at Lumen Field is how the weather could affect your enjoyment of the game. In Seattle, take a poncho. In Los Angeles, the question is more about whether to wear shorts or not.
What is the weather like for Seahawks vs. Chargers Preseason Week 1?
According to NFL Weather, the, well...weather in LA on Saturday is expected to be foggy. Until halftime, fog. At least in the second half, the forecast changes to "patchy fog." The temperature is expected to be in the 70s and wind will be around 9 mph. Watch out, though! It might gust all the way to 13! There is no chance of rain.
Weather.com has a slightly different forecast, though. There will still be no rain, but there is also no fog. Plus, temperatures are in the mid-80s. What you should wear is a Seahawks jersey, shorts, and flip-flops.
Geno Smith and DK Metcalf probably do not play. Both teams will likely keep their presumed starters out so as not to risk unneeded injuries. That only means the game should be fun to watch because 12s will see a bunch of guys working their butts off to try to earn a roster spot.
The game on Saturday, August 10, will begin at 4:05 pm PT and will be held at Sofi Stadium. Most of the nation can catch the contest at NFL+ (with a subscription) while the game in the Seattle area can be seen on KONG-TV (according to Seahawks.com). You can listen on the radio at Seattle Sports 710 AM and on KIRO Newsradio 97.3 FM.
