The Seattle Seahawks begin a new era of football this Sunday when they play the Denver Broncos in Week 1. For the first time since 2010, Seattle will have a new head coach roaming the sidelines. Mike Macdonald had never been a head coach until 2024, but he is now.

Will Macdonald have all of his weapons available? 12s already knew that some players would not be healthy to begin the season. Right tackle Abraham Lucas will begin the season on the physically unable to perform list since he is still recovering from offseason knee surgery. Special teams ace Jerrick Reed II will also start on PUP. Both will miss the first four games.

Edge rusher Uchenna Nwosu was not placed on PUP even though he hurt his knee in the preseason. The expectation was that he would miss two-to-six weeks and at the time that seemed to imply he would miss at least a couple of games. That he wasn't placed on PUP, though, would imply Seattle thinks he can return sooner rather than later.

Seattle Seahawks initial injury report for Week 1 versus Denver Broncos

Didi not participate

  • Tight end Pharaoh Brown
  • Edge rusher Uchenna Nwosu

Limited participation

  • Tight end Noah Fant
  • Wide receiver Tyler Lockett
  • Safety Rayshawn Jenkins
  • Edge rusher Dre'Mont Jones

At this point, 12s can likely assume Nwosu is not going to play on Sunday. The same goes for Brown. The hope is that Fant does, otherwise, Brady Russell will get a ton of reps as well as rookie AJ Barner. Russell flashed some ability to catch passes in the preseason but Barner is an unknown.

Lockett has been dinged-up for a while though one must assume he will find a way to play against the Broncos. Jones has missed a bunch of time as well. He seems less likely to go. Jenkins is probably doubtful which would mean K'Von Wallace would start next to Julian Love.

Let's just hope there are not any more major injuries against the Broncos. The season begins to get very difficult in Week 3. Seattle cannot afford for anyone else to get hurt.
