5 coaches that could eventually replace Pete Carroll with the Seahawks

Seahawks replacement for Pete Carroll No. 3: Ben Johnson
Ben Johnson is currently the offensive coordinator for the Detroit Lions. The Lions have long been a doormat in the NFL but now appear to be on the upswing. A big reason for that is an improved offense and one reason the offense is better is that quarterback Jared Goff seems to have found out how to be a consistently good NFL QB. Johnson is a big reason Goff has gotten better.
Johnson only has one year of being a coordinator in the NFL, but it is clear he knows what he is doing. In 2022, he led the offense to the second-most points the Lions have scored in franchise history. He also made the Seahawks defense look silly in a 48-45 Seattle victory last year.
Johnson is brilliant at keeping defenses off-balance with motion and sets designed to confuse. If he did so well in his first season as an OC, just think what Johnson can do in year two. But Johnson is also just 36 years old and if he came to the Seahawks he could be the head coach for the foreseeable future.
Sure, would Seattle choosing an offensive-minded head coach next be a complete turn from the way Carroll approaches the game? Yes. But the NFL is turning more to young head coaches than ever before and Ben Johnson is likely to get a head coaching gig next offseason or the one after that. That might also be when Pete Carroll decides to step down and replacing him with Johnson would not be a bad move.
