The Seattle Seahawks are getting the week off due to their singular bye week of 2023. The players must take a vacation, whether they want to or not. But let's be real. Who wouldn't want to take a vacation?

Seattle is 3-1 to begin the season. What started off looking like a potentially rough season in Week 1 has seen the team turnaround and they could potentially make the postseason once again. But there is still a lot of football to be played this year, of course.

So while there is no Seattle game to discuss, there is always Seahawks news. Heck, even in late June when nothing is going on, there is news. But here is some for your Friday.

Seattle Seahawks linebacker Jordyn Brooks is making an incredible comeback

Jordyn Brooks is a bit of a freak. Not only did he come back eight months after having major knee surgery, when most players don't come back for at least a year, but Brooks had only suffered the injury nine months before his return. But not only did Brooks get back to practicing and playing in real games, he's been exceptional in 2023 so far. The problem is that he is a free agent after the season.

Brooks is second on the team in tackles (41), is tied as the leader in sacks (2), and is second in tackles for loss (3). According to Pro Football Focus (subscription required), Seattle has one of the best linebacker duos in the league so far through four games as Bobby Wagner is graded as the second-best linebacker and Brooks is 17th. Seattle is only one of two teams with two linebackers ranked inside the top 17.

Seattle, however, chose not to pick up Jordyn Brooks' fifth-year option for 2024 during the 2022 offseason so Brooks will be free to sign with any team he wishes next offseason. He would have cost the Seahawks about $12 million in 2024 had they chosen to take up the option, but Brooks will likely earn much more than that, if he continues to play as well as he has, starting next season. Not picking up the option was the right move at the time even if it seems dumb now, however.
