The Seattle Seahawks are finished with their 2024 preseason games. The team went 2-1 in the meaningless games, but most importantly, when Seattle's starters played, they looked - in the words of Larry David from Curb Your Enthusiasm - pretty, pretty...pretty good.

In fact, the starters appeared so good in games when neither team was scheming against the other that it might make Seattle seem better than the team is. Or maybe the team is going to actually be very good. We won't know for sure until a few weeks into the regular season which begins on September 8.

What we can be fairly certain of is that some Seahawks who did badly in the preseason will not - and should not - be on the active roster once cuts are officially finalized on Tuesday. In fact, these players should not even make the practice squad. Keeping them with the team in any capacity only gives them hope they can try to help the team though they clearly are incapable of doing so.

Three Seahawks who don't deserve to make the 2024 roster based on their preseason Week 3 play

Quarterback PJ Walker

This is the second straight week Walker has made this list and the third straight week he has been terrible in the preseason. Forget the statistics because Walker was seven for 10 throwing the ball. He had another pass that was an interception but was wiped out by a penalty. His incompletions might have been interceptions had he been playing the number-ones of the Cleveland Browns because the throws were not close to a receiver.

Walker is probably a decent human being. He has some athleticism. Yet, he does not deserve a place on Seattle's roster or practice squad. In fact, in every preseason game this year, the Seahawks' opponents QB3 has outplayed Walker. Maybe Seattle can grab one of them when they are released.

Cornerback Lance Boykin

Boykin has good size for a cornerback at 6'2" but he does not have the speed needed to cover top receivers. His play wasn't terrible against the Browns except for one major issue. He could not control his exuberance after making a big hit on third down.

NFL cornerbacks cannot earn a job just with athletic ability; they have to play smartly as well. Boykin's miscue - the Browns should have been punting after Boykin's hit except he obviously taunted the Cleveland player which gave the Browns a first down - led to a long touchdown pass on the next play. Boykin wasn't in coverage on the play but his lack of self-control extended a drive and that cannot happen.

Safety Marquise Blair

Nearly all of Blair's bad tendencies showed up against the Browns and supplied good reasons why he did not play anywhere in the NFL last year. He has quickness and some speed, but he does not seem to know how to use them. While he can be a solid tackler, he is also a liability in coverage which cannot be the case for a safety.

Blair got beat easily on a crossing pattern against the Browns' backups in preseason Week 3. Should he make the roster and have to play real snaps, the other team would pick on Blair with great effect. He likely does make the practice squad because no other team will want him on their roster.
