3 position battles to watch for Seattle Seahawks in preseason Week 3
With one preseason game left for the Seahawks, there are several position battles still to be decided.

The Seattle Seahawks play the Green Bay Packers on Saturday in Seattle's final preseason game of 2023. Final cuts have to be made by August 29th. There isn't much time left to make the final tough decision on which players to keep on the active 53-man roster.
While Seattle is unlikely - and shouldn't - play many starters against the Packers, this means more time for guys trying to earn a roster spot to make an impact. And that's not unimportant. Player 53 might make as much of an important impact as player 1 during a game in the regular season.
The Packers appear to be set on playing their presumed starters in preseason Week 3. This means guys trying to prove they should stick with Seattle will get a chance to prove that worth against another team's starters. The following three roster spots might be up for grabs for the Seahawks.
Seahawks cornerback battle - Tre Brown versus Michael Jackson
I have assumed that Michael Jackson would be the starter at one outside corner spot ever since head coach Pete Carroll said that rookie corner Devon Witherspoon would likely be the starter in the slot. My assumption about Jackson was based on how he had looked this offseason and that he started every game in 2022. But against the Minnesota Vikings, Jackson was awful.
Brown, on the other hand, had an interception in the second half against the Vikings. Sure, Brown was playing against backups but the reason he picked the ball off was that he read the play as it developed and put himself in the right spot. Jackson has struggled with creating turnovers and has just 1 interception in his career. Pete Carroll likes guys who can get the ball back on defense.
Brown and Jackson could both get lots of reps against the Packers. Cornerback is one position where the Seahawks might not be thinking of how many players to keep, but rather which players to start. We know Riq Woolen will be one outside corner. The other comes down to Brown versus Jackson and that decision could come down to who plays best against the Packers starters.
