Seahawks fans clearly haven't forgotten about Russell Wilson after all these years

Wilson was traded in 2022 and is now on his second team since the original trade.

Russell Wilson hasn't taken a snap with the Seattle Seahawks since January 9th, 2022 but that doesn't mean that Seahawks fans don't still think about their long-time quarterback. It doesn't matter that Wilson is now two teams removed from his Seattle days, Seahawks fans are clearly still intrigued by their former quarterback.

Pro Football Reference posted which player pages had the most views in each state. While most states fixated on either Patrick Mahomes or Lamar Jackson, Washington's most-viewed player page was none other than Russell Wilson.

Again, Wilson has not played with the Seahawks since the 2021 season came to an end and the way he left the Seahawks wasn't on the best of terms. Wilson had made it clear that he was growing frustrated with the organization and was then shipped off to Denver in the 2022 offseason. Wilson's Broncos career left plenty to be desired, as he put together the worst year of his career in 2022.

A bounce back in 2023 wasn't enough to save his Broncos career, as Sean Payton made the decision to eat the cap hit and send Wilson on his way. The Pittsburgh Steelers got Wilson for cheap and he's making a strong statement to be crowned the Comeback Player of the Year award this year after throwing for 12 touchdowns and three picks in seven starts while leading Pittsburgh to a 6-1 record (they're 10-3 overall).

It seems that Seahawks fans are still rooting for Russell Wilson

While Wilson's time in Seattle might not have ended on the best of notes, he was the quarterback of the team during an important time. The Seahawks went to two Super Bowls during the Wilson era and while the defense gets a lot of the praise for the Super Bowl XLVIII victory and the near back-to-back victory in Super Bowl XLIX, Wilson was a big piece of this franchise for many years.

It's hard for fans to just forget about him and not care. Wilson's time in Denver was painful to watch, as the Broncos were a laughing stock during Wilson's two years there but it's been nice to see him reinvent himself in Pittsburgh.

Maybe it'd be more painful watching Wilson thrive if the Seahawks weren't in a good spot but that's not the case. Seattle is leading the NFC West and look to be headed toward the playoffs, which would be their second appearance in the postseason since Wilson's departure in the 2022 offseason.

Either way, fans are still curious about what the long-time Seahawk is doing with his new team. It's hard to blame them for that.
