The Seattle Seahawks knew they would be without running back Jadarian Price entering Week 4. He injured his chest in Week 3 and has since been placed on injured reserve. The team is also without Zach Charbonnet, who is still trying to come back from a knee injury suffered last season.

The leaves the team with George Holani and Emanuel Wilson against the Los Angeles Chargers. Velus Jones Jr. will also play, but he isn't expected to take a chunk of reps. Instead, the job will fall on whichever back begins productively and can maintain that through the first half. Wilson might have the chance to do just that.

He was very good at the end of Week 1, after all, until he tired. Seattle will still go with a rotation, but Wilson could be the betting favorite to be the most productive. The hope for fans might be that any running back is productive because relying solely on quarterback Sam Darnold and wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba to be the offense makes their challenge more difficult.

Seattle Seahawks have a running back opportunity based on inactives for Week 4 versus the Chargers

The good part is that the Seahawks knew they would have safety Julian Love back. He missed Week 3's loss to the Washington Commanders, and his absence was palpable. He is the leader on the back end of the defense and helps shore up communication. He's also terrific against the run and pass coverage.

Fellow presumed starting safety Ty Okada was more unsure entering Week 4. He has been dealing with a hamstring issue and missed the first three games of the season. Rodney Thomas II was solid in his place, but Okada is more of a difference-maker in all phases of the game.

Otherwise, the Seattle Seahawks were almost certain to have quarterback Jalen Milroe listed as a healthy inactive, though he can enter the game should something happen to Darnold or backup quarterback Drew Lock. Let's just hope neither of those players is hurt.

Below is the inactives list for the Seahawks in Week 4:

  • Safety Zach Charbonnet (knee)
  • Quarterback Jalen Milroe (healthy)
  • Safety Ty Okada (hamstring)
  • Linebacker Chazz Surratt (calf)
  • Wide receiver Montorie Foster Jr. (healthy)
  • Tight end Nick Kallerup (healthy)
  • Nose guard Brandon Pili (neck)
