Do You Want the Seahawks to Pursue Vincent Jackson?

AUTHOR: | IN: Seahawks | COMMENTS: 10 Comments

By now, everyone should know I’ve been a proponent of the Charlie Whitehurst acquisition. Maybe it is too optimistic, but until proven otherwise, I trust the new regime to correctly evaluate talent and pursue players they like. I don’t want to contradict myself with this post, but I will admit, A.J. Smith and the San Diego Chargers were compensated very well for Whitehurst. In addition to a third-round pick in 2010, the Chargers also jumped into the top of the second round in this year’s draft. All for a third-string quarterback with minimal experience and an empty resume. But as [...]

Golden Tate is Marketing Gold

AUTHOR: | IN: Seahawks | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

Remember the scandal earlier this month involving Top Pot Doughnuts and Golden Tate? If you recall, the “crime” didn’t quite seem real. There was even speculation the entire transgression was a hoax. The incentive: guerilla marketing. Although Top Pot adamantly denies the scandal was planned, they’re definitely benefiting from the new-found attention. The day after Golden Tate sneaked in for a late-night craving, the so-called irresistible doughnut shop sold out of maple bars. Top Pot would be foolish not to exploit this attention, right? How Good (or Bad) is Charlie Whitehurst?

AUTHOR: | IN: Seahawks | COMMENTS: 6 Comments

I’m not anything more than a fan of the Seattle Seahawks. I don’t have professional coaching experience or access to heaps of reviewable film from games. I don’t attend Seahawks practices unless they’re open to the public; like any other fan, a majority of my Seahawks awareness is dependent on guys like Dave Boling, Danny O’Neil, or Clare Farnsworth. But lately, a few reports from Seahawks camp have been contradictory: how good (or bad) is Charlie Whitehurst? Earlier this week, Dave Boling posted an opinionated blurb that had even ESPN Insider double-checking their faith in Whitehurst: At quarterback, Whitehurst had [...]

LenDale White Continues To Talk About Pete Carroll

AUTHOR: | IN: Seahawks | COMMENTS: None Yet

About a week ago, LenDale White had a few things to say about Pete Carroll in an interview with Jim Wyatt of The Tennessean. “Pete Carroll? The same Pete Carroll who ran out on ‘SC?” White said, obviously upset with his former head coach. “I have no comment on Pete. I better wait ’til I’m on a team one day before I say anything.” Unfortunately, LenDale, the damage was already done. You can’t make a statement about someone, retract the statement and refrain from further comment, and then expect the newspapers and blogs not to pick up on it. And [...]

Lawrence Jackson Needs to Step Up

AUTHOR: | IN: Seahawks | COMMENTS: 4 Comments

Lawrence Jackson is a physical specimen. At 6-foot-4, 271 pounds, he possesses characteristics that make general managers salivate. To compliment his NFL-sized frame, Jackson shows good power and exceptional quickness for a man of his stature. His potential as a productive defensive end in the NFL is one of many reasons why the Seattle Seahawks spent a first-round draft pick on him a few years ago. Unfortunately, things haven’t quite worked out as planned. Jackson has never developed into a formidable pass rusher at the professional level. Two years removed from his selection in the 2008 NFL Draft, Jackson is [...]

Qwest Field Gets a Makeover

AUTHOR: | IN: Seahawks | COMMENTS: 2 Comments

Have you seen Qwest Field lately? If you haven’t, the roof of the stadium has changed quite dramatically. Instead of a dirt-covered top that used to look white, the stadium now dons a bright, blue-covered dome. Not Seahawks blue. Instead, the shade is identical to the royal blue found in the Qwest Field logo. Quite noticeable, and a little refreshing for the scenery around downtown Seattle. If you saw Qwest Field prior to the new paintjob, you noticed that the once-white stadium had collected quite a bit of dirt and grime from years of enduring weather in the Pacific Northwest. [...]

Roger Craig: The 49ers Will Annihilate The NFC West

AUTHOR: | IN: Seahawks | COMMENTS: 6 Comments

Former 49ers running back Roger Craig made some headlines over the weekend by predicting the San Francisco 49ers will win the NFC West in 2010. “The 49ers will be a playoff team this season. I’m making that prediction,” Craig told AOL Fanhouse. “They were 8-8 last season. You saw what happened.” Craig continued to ramble about how the 49ers could have easily finished the season 12-4, citing four games that the team should have – and could have – easily won. Of the four games, Craig mentioned a 20-17 loss in week 13 to the Seattle Seahawks. “So that’s 12-4 [...]

Albert Haynesworth to Seattle: A Different, Hesitant Perspective

AUTHOR: | IN: Popular, Seahawks | COMMENTS: 9 Comments

Albert Haynesworth is a selfish player; he wants to make plays on the football field. Haynesworth doesn’t want to take on opposing blockers so someone else can claim the glory; he wants to be the playmaker and focal point of the defensive line. Unfortunately for Haynesworth, the Washington Redskins are asking him to play nose tackle in their 3-4 defense. The zero-technique nose tackle is responsible for multiple gaps and simultaneously taking on at least two offensive players. In other words, the nose tackle does the dirty work so other players can make plays. Haynesworth, who typically plays the right [...]

LenDale White Said What?

AUTHOR: | IN: Popular | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

After opting to “get out while the house is burning,” Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll continues to irk former Southern California players. If you remember, Taylor Mays was clearly disappointed after Carroll passed on him in last April’s draft. “I definitely thought from the relationship we had, the things that he had told me about what I needed to be aware of with the draft process and things that I needed to do, I felt he told me the complete opposite of the actions that he took, which was definitely – it was alarming,” Mays told reporters following his selection [...]

Leon Washington is Working Hard Behind the Scenes

AUTHOR: | IN: Seahawks | COMMENTS: None Yet

Clare Farnsworth of Seahawks.com posted a nice article yesterday about Seahawks running back Leon Washington. According to Farnsworth, Leon Washington is working harder than anyone behind the scenes, attempting to return following a horrific leg injury last fall. It’s after practice that Washington gets down to work, rehabbing the broken right leg that ended his 2009 season and put his promising career not only on hold but in jeopardy. “There’s a lot going on, it’s just unseen,” Washington said. Like running up the berm that is adjacent to the outdoor practice fields. Like pushing his 5-foot-8, 203-pound body through a [...]
