NFL Draft Pick Value Chart

AUTHOR: | IN: NFL Draft | COMMENTS: None Yet

I was working on a few draft day trade scenarios this morning, and needed a copy of draft pick value chart. I decided to post it on here in case anyone else wanted it. The way this works is that for any trade of draft picks, the picks given up by both teams should be close to the same. For example, If the Seahawks end up with pick #15, worth 1050 points, and they want to trade up to pick #5, worth 1700 points. That means they must also give up roughly another 450 points to make that trade happen. [...]

The Seattle Seahawks Actually Play Sunday

AUTHOR: | IN: Previews, Seahawks | COMMENTS: None Yet

I don’t know about you, but when the Seahawks lost last week and were eliminated from the playoffs, it felt like the season ended. All this week I’ve had to remind myself not to forget about the Cardinals and go into full offseason mode here on the blog. The ting is, this game matters. Maybe not for the playoffs anymore, but it still matters. To show why it mattes, lets consider the 2002 Seahawks coached by Mike Holmgren: After a 9-7 playoff season in 1999, his first season (in which the Seahawks backed into the playoff losers of 5 of [...]

QBs I Don’t Want To See In A Seahawk Uniform

AUTHOR: | IN: Roster Moves, Seahawks, Wish List | COMMENTS: 2 Comments

Yesterday profiled a few late round QB options that the Seahawks might take a stab a at. There are a couple more that I’ll get to eventually, but today I thought it would be a good idea to profile a few QB who I don’t want to see on the Seahawks. Seriously, I’d rather stick with Tarvaris Jackson than see any of these players get time under center in Seattle: Current Pros: Charlie Whitehurst – Lets face it. I think we’ve all see quite enough of Charlie. I think the Seahawks like what he was physically, and hoped they could [...]

NFL TV Maps: Week 17

AUTHOR: | IN: News, NFL | COMMENTS: None Yet

Everyone gets 4 games this week for the time all season. I think thats because of the lack of prime time games, but I still haven’t completely figured out the NFL’s TV rules. Like I have no idea why most of Oregon isn’t getting the Seattle game this weekend. Pretty annoying since it’s not like Atlanta-Tampa is remotely interesting. The CBS early lineup is nothing but uninteresting games. Det-Green Bay is probably the best game of the morning lineup over on Fox, but few people are getting that game. In the afternoon Denver-KC might not be all that interesting to [...]

Late Round QB Options

AUTHOR: | IN: Individual Prospects, NFL Draft | COMMENTS: None Yet

With the Seahawks picking likely around #15 in next April’s draft, I just don’t see any way that they move up enough to get one of the 2 decent QBs in this draft. Luck will go number 1 overall, and RG3 wont make it out of the top 5. The problem is that the Seahawks still really need a QB that they can develop into a starter. One thing to think about with late round options. Most NFL QBs arm strength continue to develop after they are drafted. Neither Aaron Rodgers nor Drew Brees had anything better than an “average” [...]

Seahawks don’t need an elite Quarterback

AUTHOR: | IN: Seahawks | COMMENTS: None Yet

Seahawks don’t need an elite QB!! With only one game left for our Seahawks to play, a lot of the attention has shifted to the upcoming draft and whether or not the Hawks will be positioned to snag a Quarterback of the future. According to more than a few people on Twitter, the Seahawks will be selecting somewhere between 10th and 19th overall, should they keep their own selection and not trade it. It is my opinion that Quarterback, pass rush, and linebacker are the teams greatest needs. My debate is whether they should reach for a guy like Landry [...]

NFL Power Rankings: Week 17

AUTHOR: | IN: Advanced Analysis, NFL, Power Rankings | COMMENTS: None Yet

Some big news at the bottom of the rankings, as the Colts are out of the bottom spot for the first time all season. Who would have thought that Dan Orlovsky would have such a difference. Actually, this has as much to do with what’s going on in Tampa than anything, as that team has completely quit. At the top, the 49ers remain #1, almost entorely on the strength of there Special teams and turnovers. Once the off season gets here and I have time to import the last decades worth of stats into my power rankings database, we’ll get [...]

NFL Mock Draft

AUTHOR: | IN: Mock Draft, NFL, NFL Draft, Seahawks | COMMENTS: None Yet

1. Indianapolis – Andrew Luck, QB, Stanford While there’s a ton of debate on if the Colts should take Luck, I expect that they will. Manning is be no means a guarantee to return, and Luck is a once in a generation QB prospect. Given Manning’s age and the state of this team, rebuilding around Luck makes a ton of sense. 2. Minnesota – Matt Kalil, OT, USC Kalil is the by far the best offensive lineman in the draft, and the Vikings need O-line help to protect Ponder and open running lanes for Peterson. 3. St. Louis – Justin Blackmon WR, [...]

NFL Draft Update: Safefty

AUTHOR: | IN: Big Board, NFL Draft, Seahawks | COMMENTS: None Yet

Safety usually isn’t a position that gets first round consideration. It takes a fairly special player, like Earl Thomas, to get that first first round grade, and I just don’t see one of those in this draft. There’s 2-3 players who might go in round 2, but the real value is in the later rounds. The Seahawks really don’t need a safety. Sure, you can always use some more depth, and it’s possible the Atari Bigby doesn’t return, but it’s also true that the Seahawks have the best duo of safeties in the league and both are just finishing up their 2nd [...]

Seattle Seahawks Report Card – Week 16

AUTHOR: | IN: Seahawks | COMMENTS: None Yet

It’s tough to be too sad today. I know things went about as poorly as possible for the Seahawks this weekend (They didn’t get blown out, but they did lose and were officially eliminated from the playoffs), but it’s still the Christmas holiday. Agree with me or not, but I just have a hard time taking a sporting event too seriously on this week. So let just skip the commentary and jump straight to the grades: Tarvaris Jackson: C- Jackson played decently in the first half, then simply couldn’t get anything going in the 2nd. He finished with just 163 [...]
